
MiniRingtone is an application that allows you to create your personalized ringtones from music files, iTunes library or CDs.
You can choose your favorite audio (or even record your own), import to MiniRingtone, and make it as your
smartphone's unique ringtone.
Assisted by the simple step-by-step Wizard, you can easily create your very own ringtone with just a few steps:
- Import audio from a music file, iTunes library or CD track.
- Play and select audio section(s) to be used as your ringtone.
- Transfer the ringtone you created to smartphone (via server or direct saving to smartphone *).
- Configure your smartphone profile.

Installation
|
MiniRingtone is distributed as a self-extracting installer (mrt-setup.exe). You can download it from http://www.simprit.com/download.html.
To install MiniRingtone:
- Once you have downloaded the installer file, double-click the installer's icon to launch the installer.
- Follow the instructions to install MiniRingtone.

Registration
|
You may run the MiniRingtone software in trial mode for 15 days. The trial version allows you to create unlimited number of ringtones, but each ringtone's duration is limited to a maximum of 5 seconds. However, there is no such limitation in the full version.
When you decide to buy MiniRingtone, you do not require to re-install the software. You just need to follow the following instructions to unlock the trial software:
- Make payment. Visit the product page at http://www.simprit.com/miniringtone/ and look at the purchase information section to understand how to purchase the product and make your payment online.
- Obtain the registration key. Your registration key to unlock the software will be generated to you immediately after your payment is made and cleared.
- Register the MiniRingtone software with the steps listed in the following section.
Registering the MiniRingtone software
- Launch MiniRingtone and go to the Select Audio page.
- Click the About button.
- Click the About box's Register button.
- Enter your registration key EXACTLY as it appears on your registration acknowledgement email and click OK.
You will have a full version of MiniRingtone once you have successfully register the software with a valid registration key.

Using MiniRingtone
|
When you first launch MiniRingtone, you are presented with a welcome page, listing the steps to create your own ringtones. You can check the Do not display this page again if you do not want this page to be shown again when you launch MiniRingtone next time.
Click Next to proceed to the Select Audio page.
Importing Audio
You can import audio track into MiniRingtone by one of the following ways:

Import from Audio File
Click the File button to import an audio file (e.g. mp3, wav, or aiff). This activates the Select an audio file dialog box for you to select the audio file you want to import to MiniRingtone.

Import from iTunes Library
Click the iTunes button to import audio data from your iTunes library. This activates the Import from iTunes Library dialog box. Enter a keyword of the music file you want to search from your iTunes library and press Search Now. Then highlight the music file you want to select as your ringtone and click OK to close the dialog box.

Import from CD
Click the CD button to import audio data from CD. This activates the Open CD Track dialog box. Then highlight the track you want to select as your ringtone and enter your preferred song name in the Track Description text box. Click OK to confirm your selection and close the dialog box.

Making Audio Selection
Once you have imported an audio track to MiniRingtone, you can start to select the section(s) you want to be used as your ringtone. In the Audio Track area, drag your mouse through the section of the track you want to select as your ringtone. Your selection will be highlighted. You can also select multiple sections by dragging your mouse through different sections of the track.
To preview your selection, press the Play button.
If you are not satisfied with you selections, you can modify them by either using the Context Menu or dragging your mouse to resize a selected section.
Using Context Menu
Right click one of the selected sections to activate the context menu containing the following menu items:

Edit Selection
Choose this to activate the Audio Selection dialog box, which allows you to adjust the start and end times for a particular section. You can also add or delete sections in this dialog box.

Clear Selection
Choose this to remove the selected section.

Clear all Selections
Choose this to remove all selected sections.

Dragging to resize a selected section
Move your mouse cursor to one of the edges of a selected section. When the mouse cursor becomes a double-headed arrow, you can start dragging your mouse to resize the section.
Saving Audio Selection
You can save your audio selection for later use by clicking the Save button. This activates the Save current settings dialog box, for you to save your selection to a configuration file with the .mrt extension. An .mrt file contains only configuration settings. The audio file will not be copied to the .mrt file.
You can later load your saved selection to MiniRingtone by clicking the Open button.
Choosing a Transfer Option
Once your selection sounds the way you want on the Select Audio screen, you can click one of the transfer options to transfer your selection to your smartphone.
After that, click the Next button to proceed to the next step.
Refer to the respective sections in this user guide for the transfer option you have chosen:

Transferring Ringtone via Server
If you have chosen the Simprit server transfer option on the Select Audio screen, you need to upload your ringtone to server then download the ringtone to your smartphone.

Uploading Ringtone to Server
To upload your ringtone to the server:
- Enter your User ID (preferably your email address) which is unique to yourself.
- Select the type of ringtone you want to create from the Ringtone Type drop-down list.
- If you are not satisfied with the original ringtone volume, you may amplify the volume by selecting a value from the Ringtone Volume drop-down list.
- Check the Email me checkbox if you wish to receive an email containing the link to the ringtone download site. If you choose this option, you User ID must be a valid email address.
- Click Next when you are ready to upload your ringtone to the server.
- A confirmation page will be shown once your ringtone has been successfully uploaded to the server.
- You can then click Next to create another ringtone or click Close to exit MiniRingtone.
Downloading Ringtone from Server
You need to access to the server in order to download your ringtone to your smartphone.
If you have chosen to be notified via email when you upload your ringtone to the server, you will receive an email containing the link to your ringtone download site. To go to the ringtone download site:
- Open the email with your smartphone's email software.
- Scroll to the ringtone download site link in the email.
- Click Get Link on the menu.
Alternatively, you can use your smartphone web browser to access http://www.simprit.com/mrt/ directly. In this case, you are asked to enter your User ID if you access this site for the first time:

After you enter a valid User ID and press the Submit button, you will be redirected to the ringtone download page. You User ID is also remembered so you will not be asked for User ID for subsequent accesses, unless you choose to switch to another User ID.

To download your ringtone for newer BlackBerry models, eg 8100, 8800, 8300:
- On the ringtone download page, click the ringtone file link.
- Click Save on the menu.
- Select the location where you want your ringtone to save to.
- Type a name for the ringtone.
- Click Save.
To download your ringtone for other BlackBerry models:
- On the ringtone download page, click the ringtone file link.
- Click Get Link.
- Click the Menu button.
- Click Save.
- Type a name for the ringtone.
- Click OK.
Once the ringtone is downloaded, it will be removed from the server.
Next, refer to the Configuring Smartphone Profile section to understand how to set the ringtone to your smartphone profile.
Saving Ringtone to Smartphone
You can use this feature for newer BlackBerry models that support mass storage mode, eg 8100, 8800, 8300, etc. You need to enable the mass storage mode on your BlackBerry in order to save ringtone to your smartphone.
To enable mass storage mode:
- On the Home screen, click Options.
- Click Advanced Options.
- Click Media Card.
- Set Mass Storage Mode Support to On.
- Set Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected to Yes or Prompt.
- Click Save on the menu.
To save ringtone to your smartphone:
- Connect your BlackBerry to the computer where you installed MiniRingtone.
- On the Select Audio screen, import your audio and make your selection.
- Click the Smartphone transfer option.
- Click Next.
- Select the type of ringtone you want to create from the Ringtone Type drop-down list.
- If you are not satisfied with the original ringtone volume, you may amplify the volume by selecting a value from the Ringtone Volume drop-down list.
- Specify the location on the smartphone where you want your ringtone to save to.
- Click Next when you are ready to save your ringtone to your smartphone.
- A confirmation page will be shown once your ringtone has been saved to the smartphone.
- You can then click Next to create another ringtone or click Close to exit MiniRingtone.
- Once done, disconnect your BlackBerry from your computer.

Saving Ringtone to Disk
You can use this feature to save a copy of the ringtone you have created to your computer hard disk.
To save ringtone to disk:
- On the Select Audio screen, import your audio and make your selection.
- Click the Disk transfer option.
- Click Next.
- Select the type of ringtone you want to create from the Ringtone Type drop-down list.
- If you are not satisfied with the original ringtone volume, you may amplify the volume by selecting a value from the Ringtone Volume drop-down list.
- Specify the location on your computer where you want your ringtone to save to.
- Click Next when you are ready to save your ringtone to your hard disk.
- A confirmation page will be shown once your ringtone has been saved.
- You can then click Next to create another ringtone or click Close to exit MiniRingtone.
Configuring Smartphone Profile
Once you have saved your ringtone to your smartphone, you can set the ringtone to one of your smartphone profiles.
To set your ringtone for newer BlackBerry models, eg 8100, 8800, 8300:
- On the Home screen, click Profiles.
- Click Advanced.
- In the profiles list, scroll to the profile you want to set your ringtone.
- Click Edit on the menu.
- Click the item you want to set your ringtone (e.g. Phone).
- Click the Tune you want to change.
- Click the ringtone you want to set to or locate the ringtone with Browse **.
- Click Save on the menu.
To set your ringtone for other BlackBerry models:
- On the Home screen, click Profiles.
- In the profiles list, click the profile you want to set your ringtone.
- Click Edit.
- Click the item you want to set your ringtone (e.g. Phone).
- Click Edit.
- Click the Tune you want to change and then click Change Option.
- Click the ringtone you want to set to.
- Click again and then click Save.
** Disconnect your BlackBerry from your computer if you want to locate ringtones stored on the media card.
